Did you know a recruiter or employer could see over 200 resumes a day! At this rate do you really think a recruiter is going to read every page of your resume? No, it's just not efficient. For this reason it's crucial that your resume has a really powerful initial page.

What does powerful mean?
The intention is that any person reading your resume should easily sum up your abilities without having to read each page of your resume. At a minimum the front page should feature your name, role, company and your biggest and best career achievements.


Career Summary
Within the career summary section it is important you list 10 to 15 of the very best and proudest achievements of your career. For example "Electrical Engineer on $500M project effecting 30,000 customers".

Electrical Engineer Key Words
Like any field, Electrical Engineering has keywords like, industrial experience, licensed expert, familiar with local codes and so on. Just like searching on the internet, recruiters are looking for keywords. Ensure you sprinkle these key phrases throughout your resume.

The right quantity of details
What exactly is the "right" quantity of details? While this is really a hotly debated subject, i'll tell you from expertise if I'm recruiting for a position it is unlikely I'm going to read a 10 or 15 page resume end to end, I just do not have the time. When you have 20 years of experience pull out the high value comments and compress your resume into a three to five page document.
